Back in 2020 we visited Zipline Topola Skies and the flight over the waves was really worth it. Now we are coming back 4 years later to check if the resort is suitable for families with children.
The Topola Skies Zip Line
The panorama of the Black Sea from the terrace where you descend from is delightful, but also slightly frightening – after all, you are 118 meters above the ground. The facility looks dramatic and scary, but while you are descending, it feels like you’re just gliding along a tightrope.

The velocity reaches 80 km/h. For me, the adrenaline was obviously in overdrive and I kept shouting while enjoying the great view. Maybe that’s why the descent seemed to me like a short moment.

The price is BGN 40. It is recommended not to be barefoot or in flip-flops, but to wear sandals or closed shoes and comfortable clothes. You are handed a backpack to store your personal belongings such as a cell phone and wallet, and you descend with it. From the end point of the zipline you are picked up by a shuttle bus that takes you back to the starting point.

The facility is also accessible to external visitors and is suitable for children over 8 years old. The employees are smiling and friendly and care about safety. If you have a 360-degree camera and want to capture that unforgettable emotion, there is an option to attach it to the helmet. At the zipline they also offer drone filming.
Working time: Wednesday – Sunday, by appointment, 9:30 – 17:00 (break 12:00 – 13:00)
The Pools
The pools at Topola Skies Resort and Aquapark are clean and well maintained. Each of them has a children’s area with waterslides.

While you are lying on the lounger with a cocktail in your hand or splashing in the water, a dozen animators take care of your good mood – they organize a variety of games, competitions and sports activities – zumba, water aerobics, yoga.
There’s also a Food Court with pizzas, pretzels and pastries open until 5pm if you fancy an afternoon snack.

Our absolute favorite of the pools was the indoor heated pool where we spent the most time. In our opinion, it is also the most suitable for babies, as there is no danger of them being exposed to too much sunlight and the temperature of the water is very pleasant.

The infinity pool was our other favorite spot. The hotel complex is perched on the rocks and the panorama that opens from there is phenomenal. We found out that the pool is open until later in the evening and gives you the opportunity to welcome the sunset while bathing in pool’s clear waters.
The Aquapark

The aquapark at Topola Skies is also accessible to outside visitors and is a cool idea for a weekend with the kids, even if you are not a hotel guest. There are also more extreme slides, but we mainly spent our time in the children’s area, where children up to 120cm tall are allowed.

It has a large children’s pool with a depth of 20 cm, many attractions, adventure showers and a wave facility. Children’s attractions are more suitable for walking children. If you get hungry, there is also a fast food restaurant on the territory of the water park.
The Kids’Park and playgrounds
Upon entering Topola Skies, we were convinced that the complex was built and organized with children and their entertainment in mind. Already at the entrance after the parking lot, we were greeted by a 6D cinema, airsoft equipment and a braid studio.

The hotel part is remote from the parking lot and children can run freely on the outdoor areas. If you call the front desk in advance, they can pick you up with a golf cart to take you to your room and carry your luggage.
In several places around the resort, there are ramps for baby strollers and the alleys between the individual blocks are very pleasant for a walk.

Topola Skies has three playgrounds with various climbing equipment and an indoor playground for children over 2 years old with animators. They organize children’s movie nights, a children’s disco and face painting.

Everywhere around the complex there are surprises for children – from the ice cream cart in the restaurant to the singing fountain in the hotel courtyard.

Next to the lobby you will also find a gaming room – with table tennis, billiards and slot machines with video and arcade games.
The Action park and other sport facilities

There are a lot of entertainment options for lovers of sports and active recreation – a street gym with a view of the sea, an action park with 2 levels of difficulty and 2 climbing walls, each 8m high, volleyball, football and tennis courts.

The Topola Skies eco-trail and Adora beach
One afternoon during our stay, I decided to have a solo adventure and went along the eco-trail “Topola Skies” which leads to the beach below the complex.

The length of the route is 1100 m, and the difference in elevation is -145 m. It took me more than the advertised 15 min.

I chose a very inopportune time, but the views were worth it. I recommend you visiting the eco-trail early in the morning or late in the afternoon when it is not so hot.

The final point of the route is Adora beach. It’s picturesque, but I found it quite tiny. It is shallow, which makes it suitable for children. There is a free zone and a restaurant with tents, where you pay extra for a sunbed and umbrella.

Minibuses are available for the hotel guests that transfer you from the hotel to the beach and back. My advice is to take a look at the timetable in advance and adjust your plans accordingly if you want to go down the eco-trail and then return by bus.

Sights in the region of Balchik and Kavarna
Cape Kaliakra

A nature and archaeological reserve with a museum, restaurant, lighthouse, marine radar station, weather station and chapel. Legend has it that during the Ottoman invasion, the Turks captured 40 maidens and imprisoned them in a cave on Cape Kaliakra. The girls chose to lose their lives but to keep their name and honor unsullied. They braided their hair and together they threw themselves into the sea at sunset.
The mussel farm near the village of Dalboka

I always licked my fingers at the mussel farm. Mussels are prepared in various recipes and configurations – breaded, boiled, stewed with wine, in soup. A must-stop on any foodie’s journey. The view from the terraces is also not to be missed.
Yailata area

In addition to breathtaking views of wild rocky shores and donkey thistles in Yailata, you can also explore cave dwellings and an early Byzantine fortress. We followed signs for a winery and a rock church along the way, but unfortunately they never took us to these destinations. I recommend visiting early in the morning or late afternoon in the summer to avoid the intense heat.

Keep in mind that if you are with a baby, all the sights listed above should be visited with an ergonomic backpack, as they are difficult to access with a stroller.
